About Writing Instruments

Many Hörner fountain pens write on a German JoWo nib and fill by cartridge or converter, while our rollerball and ballpoint pens use German-made refills. Barrels are turned from wood or cast resin, or machined from metal, and most pieces can be engraved in our Dresden workshop for a personalized gift. The range spans fountain pens, rollerball pens, and ballpoint pens, plus matching sets, cases, and refills. New to fountain pens? Our guides cover nib sizes and fountain pen ink so you can choose with confidence. Orders ship from Germany with import duties prepaid, so there are no surprise fees on delivery. Deciding between types? Compare rollerball vs fountain pen.

Questions & answers
Can I get a pen engraved?

Yes, most Hörner pens can be engraved in our Dresden workshop, which makes them a ready personalized gift. A few pieces are not engravable, so check the individual product page before ordering.

How do Hörner pens fill with ink?

All fountain pens fill by standard ink cartridge or by a converter that draws from a bottle. The converter lets you use any bottled fountain pen ink you like.

What kind of nib do the fountain pens use?

Many of our fountain pens carry a German JoWo nib, available from extra-fine to broad depending on the model. The nibs are steel and write smoothly out of the box.

Do you ship to the US and are there extra fees?

Yes, orders ship from Germany with import duties prepaid, so you pay no extra fees on delivery. Prices are shown in USD.
